ZOOM/Facetime Games and Activities

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way many of us interact with our family and friends, and while a number of places are gradually lifting restrictions, Zoom, Facetime, and other video conferencing services continue to be in high use. And although chatting and catching up is super fun, the following games and activities are definitely worth a try!

1. Moodboards

This is a great activity to do with a group of friends over ZOOM or Facetime! You could use google slides to create a “presentation” and assign slide(s) to each person as their moodboard base. Then, in real time, you can decorate and fill your mood boards using pictures and quotes from Pinterest, google, and other sources. Some of my favorite topics include color aesthetics, iconic countries or cities, Disney characters and/or movies, and holidays.

2. Scribbl.io (https://skribbl.io/)

Scribbl.io is kind of like Pictionary, in that one person draws a picture and the other players must guess what it is. Incorrect guesses show up in the “chat,” while correct ones do not, making this a difficult yet interesting and face paced online game. Overall, I highly recommend playing this with your friends and family!

3. Mafia/Werewolf

This classic party game actually works through zoom, believe or not. Instead of the “god” distributing cards or tapping people to assign roles, however, they can privately message the players individually. Although it may take a few rounds to get used to this version of Mafia/Werewolf, it is definitely worth a try!

4. Mad libs

Mad Libs. Need I say more?

These end up being so hilarious and allow everyone to engage in a fun activity.

5. Learn tik tok dances (or at least try to)

Tik Tok is an app that has definitely taken the world by storm, and it is particularly popular in the US. Whether you are interested in funny tik toks or cooking tik toks, it is always fun to try out some of the popular dances. Doing so over Zoom or Facetime with friends and family is a great way to spend time with your loved ones and also test your dancing skills!

6. Netflix Party

You and your friends can still watch movies together through the Netflix party extension. The film will be playing in real time for everyone and there is a live chat on the side. I suggest watching sillier, borderline cringy movies through Netflix party, like Always be My Maybe or Sleepover, as it makes for more funny commentary and overall entertaining experience.

Hope you have fun on your future virtual chats and stay safe!
