It’s apparent that this year, school has had a huge negative effect on mental health. Having to tackle the online school environment and any external issues occurring can get very overwhelming at times. Here are 3 ways to help lower your stress this school year.
1.Implement exercise into your daily routine.
Here’s the thing: during the school year it may be difficult to find time to exercise with all of the assignments you’re drowning in. However, even going on a 10-15 minute walk has been proven to decrease a person's stress. You don’t have to create an intense workout plan, but getting your body moving after sitting for hours is a necessity for your mental health.
2. Write down your thoughts.
Things have been so frustrating recently, and sometimes you might not know who to vent to. The best and most relaxing method is through journaling. Writing down your thoughts of the occurrences throughout your day helps you reflect, gain new perspectives, and allow you to vent to yourself; the person who understands you the most.
3. Practice relaxation techniques
Either in the morning or before you go to bed, try these techniques to help ease your mind. These techniques include: deep breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, and aromatherapy. You don’t have to do all of them of course, but attempting any of these exercises a few times a week can help you with having a positive mindset, sleep, and decreasing restlessness.
Making sure your stress levels are at a moderate rate while tackling school can be difficult. However, implementing any of these methods has been proven to help teens and adults with their stress levels, and it can help you too. Remember that your mental health is important!
I agree, writing definitely helps me!
