Hey guys! I'm Farrah and my city has been under lock-down for over a month and a half, and I think it's safe to say I am on the brink of insanity. Who'd have thought there'd be a time I would be excited to get groceries? Anyways, as much as I should be making the most out of my time, I'm really not in the right headspace to be productive, so I've been investing my time and energy into watching endless amounts of movies that are resulting in me crying my eyes out (every. single. time.). I'm a huge movie geek so I'm just going to share some of my favourite movies that make me hate quarantine a little less than I do.
1) The Great Gatsby
Okay, so I'm a geek for literature and I almost never think the movie is as good as the book, let alone better, but this movie has stolen my heart. I think the right thing to say is that the movie brings the book to life. Even if you aren't into classic literature, its a great watch. Plus, who doesn't want to watch Leonardo Dicaprio in his element? If you guys are interested in tragedies and historical fiction, this is it for you. Also if you're also in the mood for a really serious, intense movie, I could not recommend anything better. However, I must warn you that this movie will frustrate you to no end and you will cry (talking from experience hehe).
2) Little Women (2019)
Yes I know, historical fiction, again. If you guys aren't into that, you may not like the movie that much, but come on, Timothée Chalamet as the lead male character? Sign me up. If you want to give this movie a go, I highly recommend reading the book first. It's preferable you read the second book too, but it doesn't matter as much if you don't. The movie combines the first two books into one film, and it could not have better casting... I mean, it's literally perfect. With Timothée Chalamet, we also have Emma Watson, Meryl Streep, Saoirse Ronan, and a whole bunch of other talented actors and actresses! Talk about a power cast... I'm fangirling. If you're in for a really bittersweet, but overall very wholesome story with lovable characters, some very shocking twists and some very very sad moments (yes, lots of tears), then this is the movie for you, buddies!
3) Clueless
Okay. This is one of the most iconic movies I have ever seen. It's a really chill movie in the sense that there isn't a very particular strong climax, and it's not a very intense. It's really funny and amusing and the ending is really cute. If you're in for a more lighthearted, relaxed version of Mean Girls this movie is for you!
4) Harry Potter
Okay, yes, this is not one movie, but eight. It's hard to binge watch all of them together, but if you're dedicated or don't have anything better to do, go for it. Do I even have to give a reason to watch this? It's Harry Potter. Harry Potter. Anyways, if you don't feel like binging them all, my personal favourites are the 4th Movie, the Goblet of Fire and 8th movie, the Deathly Hallow Part 2. The Goblet of Fire is my personal favourite because I feel like the way Harry faces Voldemort in that book is really cool and unique. Also... It has Cedric Diggory; how could I not? I love Deathly Hallows Part 2 because it is super intense and has some of the best action out of all 8 movies. We also get to see little precious Neville take on Voldemort; who doesn't want to see that?
5) Sleeping Beauty (1959)
I love this movie for no particular reason. It's my childhood favourite and the scene where Prince Phillip and Aurora met and sang Once Upon a Dream has me swooning. I just think this movie is really magical and Maleficent is a seriously cool villain. Also if you're feeling nostalgic and in the mood for a really wholesome movie, this is for you.
And there you go, buddies! If you decide to watch any of these movies, comment down below or tell us how you like it in the forum page on our website. Also, please take care of yourselves! Follow necessary precautions and practice good hygiene for the sake of yourselves and the people around you.
That's it for now!
Until next time,
Farrah <3
