The Magic of Gardening

I found a new hobby during quarantine, and it’s gardening! Gardening may sound boring and like a chore, but contrary to stereotypical opinions, it is extremely calming and eye opening. In addition, you do not have to leave your house to garden!

Gardening is stress relieving because being with nature can automatically make you pause and observe your surroundings. This may sound familiar, since it’s mindfulness. Tending to plants, listening to the sounds of any animals, feeling the texture of leaves, and observing the color of the soil are some of the many ways of how you can bring yourself to the present and let go of the tension inside you. After spending so much time indoors on most days, getting outside and taking a whiff of fresh air can really be refreshing, and it can also help you focus better. Taking time off electronic devices can be very beneficial to your mental clarity as well as your physical health.

Gardening also brings about a sense of accomplishment. By tending to your plants, they will eventually flourish and grow, making you feel proud and motivated to keep working for more progress. Overall, gardening can be a lot of work, but you could make it a hobby! It all depends on your point of view.
