As November comes up, here are some tips for National Novel Writing Month, a month dedicated to writing the first draft of a novel.
Have an idea - this helps you come up with other parts of your novel.
Example: I wanted to retell a ballet
Come up with a solid idea - one you have an inkling of what you want to do.
Example: Instead of a retelling, I am writing a continuation of the novel and playing with what happened AFTER the story.
Come up with flawed characters - characters are more interesting when they have to work through their flaws.
Set your word count goal - the typical goal for NaNoWriMo is 50k words, but everyone gets to choose their own goal.
Mentally prepare yourself.
HAVE FUN!
