How to Make the Most Out of Your Morning

5 more minutes! *Proceeds to snooze alarm*  This situation is extremely familiar to many of us.  Many times when we get up in the morning, what first arises is a groggy feeling, making us feel unmotivated to start the day.  If you are looking for how to start off the day with optimism, you have come to the right place.

Plan Out Your Day the Night Before

Having a list of tasks set the day before can increase your desire to crush those goals.  Include a form of self-care/ something you enjoy.  Having it planned in your schedule can help drive you out of bed.  With a schedule ready to go, your day will be more organized, eliminating the fear of having a chaotic day when you get up.

Practice Gratitude

Right when you wake up, think about at least 3 things that you are grateful for.  Take in the positive feeling that arises.  Regularly practicing gratitude increases happiness and content.

Repeating Self-Affirmations

Have you ever seen videos where people repeat an encouraging phrase to themselves in the mirror?  It might seem silly, but it actually increases confidence and promotes self-love.  Loving yourself and feeling determined early in the morning allows you to be more productive.  Some affirmations are: I am worthy.  I choose to be happy and healthy.

Ditch the Screens

Do you scroll through social media when you first wake up?  This is a negative habit that deters you from getting out of bed.  Looking at screens drains your energy and makes you sluggish, the total opposite of wanting to feel energized in the mornings.  It might take willpower to drop the screens in the morning, but know that it will be worth it.

Movement

Doing some sort of movement early in the m0rning will help get your blood flowing and increase the endorphins that contribute to wellness and productivity.  Movement can be as simple as doing some light yoga or even going for a walk.  It does not have to be something rigorous.

Personally, I love mornings.  Unplugging from technology and being fully present help inspire me to tackle the day and enjoy it to the fullest.  A new day is a new beginning (this is part of my gratitude list:)

There are so many more ways to set a beneficial tone for your day in the morning.  I hope you consider these options.  It will take time and hard work for you to find what works, but once you do, you will not regret it.
